Children experience a variety of emotional experiences in their daily lives that can influence their cognitive performance (e.g., inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and planning). Candace's research examines how various emotion dimensions (e.g., motivational tendencies and valence) influence cognitive performance and how current skill level may buffer these effects (Lapan & Boseovski, 2017). It is necessary to establish the effects of emotions on cognitive functioning to inform the development of high quality Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
